Octoberfish XXVI! Our own month long fishing tournament features the same four species as the Derby.

The annual Martha's Vineyard Striped Bass and Bluefish Derby is a month-long fishing contest that starts in mid-September and finishes in mid-October. While most of the fishermen are locals, the participants come from all over the world. Up to 3,200 contestants compete, and all are looking for the largest of four species of fish: Striped Bass, Bluefish, False Albacore and Atlantic Bonito.

The Annual Oak Bluffs Monster Shark Tournament! The preeminent sportfishing event of the Boston Big Game Summer Tournament series promises to be another complete sell out. As always, expect world-class sportfishing, fine dining and excitement for all. The top five finishers will be awarded with a variety of highly valuable prizes and awards. Whether you're a prominent angler with a top placing boat from a previous year or just getting started in tournament fishing, you will want to be part of the excitement. If you plan to compete, you'll want to send them your application and reserve your slip/mooring immediately as space is always limited.

This is one of the premier fly fishing events in the United States. It's run by volunteers and fosters the best qualities of the sport. Each year, approximately 200 fly fishermen join in the fun. The tournament is usually held the last weekend of May or the first weekend of June.

Since the 1970's, the Martha's Vineyard Rod and Gun Club has put on this eagerly awaited one-day Trout Fishing Tournament in May for the children of Martha's Vineyard. The club purchases hundreds of trout and the volunteers stock Duarte's Pond. After enjoying a delicious hot breakfast under the tent beside the pond, the kids are presented awards and prizes. Many of the club's current members fished in this tournament as children. Now their kids are baiting the hooks.
