Boat Fishing...

Opportunities abound for the boat fisherman in the waters around Martha's Vineyard. Whether you like the quiet pace of fishing for smaller species like flounder and scup, inshore fishing for striped bass and bluefish, the excitement of chasing bonito and false albacore, and even bigger game like shark, marlin, and tuna, Martha's Vineyard has something for everyone. Lying in the path of major gamefish migration routes, each change of season brings the Vineyard something good for all boat anglers to enjoy.
Springtime brings strong runs of striped bass and bluefish to our waters. Summer sees the arrival of atlantic bonito, followed by the false albacore in late summer. Summer is also the time to look for the offshore species that can often be found within a few miles of our coasts. During the autumn, stripers, blues, bonito, and albies all begin their fall feeding frenzies that many saltwater fishermen wait all year for.
A wide variety of water types surround Martha's Vineyard, and all hold fish when the time is right. A profusion of rips, reefs, points, inlets, and shoals provide the inshore and near-shore angler with plenty of structure to work with a variety of techniques. Drifting live bait, trolling, or casting artificials and flies to breaking fish are all great ways to enjoy boat fishing in the clear waters around Martha's Vineyard. Larry's Tackle Shop is proud to offer the services of chartered fishing boats which take you right to the fish. We also stock all of the nautical charts necessary to guide you to the best saltwater fishing in your own boat, and we can help to point you in the right direction to find the fish. Won't you join us on the water this year?
